The inaugural Singapore Rock Festival, to be held at Fort Canning Park March 5 and 6, has lined up heavy metal band Alice in Chains as well as shock-rocker and filmmaker Rob Zombie, nu metal favorite Korn, and hard rock bands Five Finger Death Punch and Black Veil Brides.
Rob Zombie, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, and Black Veil Brides will play on March 5, with Newsted, led by former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, Alter Bridge, and Alice in Chains performing on March 6.
Alice in Chains is one of the definitive heavy metal bands of the early 90s with it bleak, nihilistic sound that contrasts strong hard rock with more subtle acoustic numbers. After the death of lead singer Layne Staley in 2002, members of the band took a long break, but eventually reunited with William Duvall, joining to handle lead vocals in 2007.
Seven-time Grammy-nominated recording artist Rob Zombie recently released his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which includes the single “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town.”
Korn recently released their 11th studio album “The Paradigm Shift” recorded with producer Don Gilmore [Linkin Park], and Alter Bridge is expected to release a box set titled Alter Bridge X to commemorate their 10th anniversary later this year.
