Christie's HK Evening Sale of Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art raised $46.6 million with 91 percent of the lot sold and 96% sold by value, sending a strong message to the market about the confidence of buyers in this category. Of the 41 lots sold, 7 sold in excess of HK$10 mln or US$1.29 mln.

Top lot went to Sanyu's Blue Chrysanthenums in a Glass Vase, which went to an Asian private buyer for $6.1 mln. The modern master's Pink Lotus also sold for $4.9 million (third top lot).

Amongst contemporary Chinese artists it was a clear sweep for Zeng Fanzhi, with Fly selling for $5.1 million (2nd top lot) and Mask Series selling $3.258 mln (4th top lot).
