Christophe Josse - SOLD! |
Several haute couture dresses (and reportedly two Rolls Royce’s) were sold during the Haute Couture Week in Singapore cementing the rise of the small city-state as a city with strong interest and deep pocket for luxury fashion.
The results of the 4-day event even surprised the couturiers themselves as they had earlier admitted they had modest expectations, primarily hoping to raise their profile and sell some of their ready-to-wear. Instead, clients mainly focused on high-end couture pieces. The only problem, they were finding it hard to understand that with couture they would have to wait. “They all want the dresses tomorrow,” one couturier quipped.

While invitations for the closing show of Stephane Rolland were the most sought after, local fashionista zoomed in on Christophe Josse, who managed to sold three couture evening dresses (north of 20,000 euros each) along with several ready-to-wear pieces. Josse’s collection was highly feminine, wearable, and superbly executed, using delicate organza and muslin.
Alexis Mabille, Emeyric Francois and Gustavo Lins also sold pieces, while a lady snapped on the first day the Maxime Simoens’s purple dress as seen on Beyonce's latest album cover. Several ladies also expressed interest to visit some of these couturiers during Paris Week in January to see their new collection.

It is highly likely that some of these couturiers' ready-to-wear collection will soon be available in Singapore. Discussions have already taken place with a couple of multi-label stores.
