Sotheby's Hong Kong announces Autumn Sales line up

Sotheby’s Hong Kong Autumn Sales 2011 will be held from Oct 1 to October 6, with over 3,400 lots on offer with a value in excess of $300 million. Selected highlights will be showcased in travelling exhibitions across Asia, starting in Singapore Sep 3-4, Bangkok Sep 6-7, Shanghai Sep 16-17, Beijing Sep 19-20 and Taipei, Sep 24-25. It will conclude with a public exhibition of all the properties on offer in Hong Kong from Oct 1-5. 



More details will be dripped fed over the coming weeks. But Sotheby's has already announced that it will sell the second part of the Meiyintang Chinese porcelain collection, which was put together more than 50 years by two Swiss brothers, Stephen and Gilbert Zuellig, who were advised by the legendary dealer and connoisseur Edward Chow and the elder statesman of antiquities collectors, Giuseppe Eskenazi.

It comprises some 2,000 pieces ranging from the Neolithic period through to the Qing Dynasty and is widely considered to be the greatest collection of Chinese porcelain still in private hands in the west
