Born in a family of artists, Ma Liang, aka Maleonn, started as a creative director in the advertising industry, before deciding 8 years ago to follow his true calling as an artist. He has since exhibited internationally and participated in critical showcase including Shanghai Biennale 2010 and Reshaping History, 2000-2009 Chinese New Art and gained a cult following thanks to his fable-like photographs, what uses props, actors and theatrical sets .
His new solo exhibition, Pure Satire, will open at 2902 Gallery in Singapore on April 12, featuring 40 recent works he created while in China and Europe. Maleonn often describes his art as an oniric work built like a poem "of the fragments of things without any logic", with dream like characters, random mix of old and new. His works a full of imagination that demonstrates life is like a theatre replete with untold stories .
