Borobudur will hold an auction in Singapore on Nov 21. It will have an unusually large offering of Chen Wen Hsi, one of Singapore ’s pioneer artists, known for his mix of traditional Chinese paintings oil painting with Western oil techniques. Amongst his inks, he’s well known for his gibbons and cranes, and some of them are on the block. The auction house will also sell several beautiful paintings by Willem Gerard Hofker, a Dutch painter who settled in Bali in the late 30s and is known for his pastel drawings of dancers and landscapes.
