Yayoi Kusama is one of Japan’s most famous female artists, famous for the polka dots and lines that cover all the surfaces of her work (translation of the hallucinations she has endured since childhood). Over the years, she has won numerous awards and distinctions, such as the Praemium Imperiale, one of Japan’s most prestigious awards for internationally recognized artists, which she received in 2006. In 2008, one of her works sold for $5.1 million, a record for a living female artist at the time. But you don't have to spend a fortune to own her works. Pop and Contemporary Fine Art in Singapore currently has a small exhibition of limited edition screenprints and other works, which are fairly affordable.
