Hermes has announced plans to open its first store under the Shang Xia (meaning “topsy-turvy” in Mandarin) brand in Shanghai in September. The new brand has its own design team and will make and sell clothes and accessories based on Chinese styles and traditional know-how. They will be made using Chinese raw materials and artisanal know-how. Shang Xia’s creative director is Qiong-Er Jiang, daughter of a noted Chinese architect.
