Sotheby’s biannual sale of Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art in London on May 12 will be headlined by a unique pair of Imperial gilt and patinated-bronze winter plum trees with their branches covered with perching cloisonné enamel magpies. There is also an interesting ‘Qingbai’ Buddhist lion-shaped pillow with the attributes of both male and female (Lion with a with brocade ball in its mouth and small cub) and a small Jun splashed tripod censer with stunning colours. Jun is a unique colourful ware of the Song dynasty.
