China Guardian will hold a Charity Auction "For Haiti" later this month. On offer will be Chinese oil paintings and sculptures donated by several top Chinese artists. I've just received the catalogue and a rather unusual Zeng Fanzhi with no reserve price (his prices may have fallen, but he's still one of the top contemporary artists in China now), along with a typical, but fab gun powder on paper by Cai Guoqiang (right) caught my attention.
My favourite piece is a lithograph (left) made at the STPI by Qiu Zhijie. I interviewed him in 2008 and he's one of the most engaging artists I've ever met. Read this IHT story for more.
The charity auction will be held Mar 21 at 7pm in Beijing.
